I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, and moved to England some years ago. I fell in love with reading at a young age, particularly horror fiction and fantasy. Inspired by many great authors, my favourites being Stephen King and Clive Barker, I began writing poetry and short stories.
In my late twenties I arrived at a time in my life where I felt a bit despondent, a bit lost in myself and my life. Some nights I had terrible dreams and, unable to sleep, I started coming up with ways to dispel those nightmares. I created unusual hybrid creatures in my mind that made me smile and eventually sleep.
This is where my first novel began, and this is where I started to feel better about myself and started loving myself and my life again.
Jacob le Roux is dead, or at least he feels that way inside. So why not make it official? Jacob tries to end his life by jumping from the tallest building in Johannesburg, and instead of crashing face first into the crowd infested sidewalk, he finds himself in a fantastical land filled with wondrous hybrid creatures that can’t possibly exist.
But the inhabitants of this land have problems of their own. If Jacob can help these creatures defeat the darkness that plagues their home, he may be able to save not only his life but also his soul.
